Clay Roof at Traditional House of Limasan
This image is a traditional roof from Java Housing “Limasan house“. The material is from clay and finish by traditional oven; we call as “Tobong”. We call this roof as “Genteng Kripik “. This roof is very thin and to arrest burden which too heavy and not rain waterproof. When the rain comes, pervasive water cans inside to the pore of roof material, so this roof seen wet if it is seen from under. This roof still applied in countryside’s in Java Island. Excess of this roof can damp the temperature so that space under it remains to be cold when the summer season. This roof made by the way of traditional culture, that is by the way of manual in print and press it in the both sides, and then put in under the sun until drought, then will be burned in hot stove reaching 200-500 degree of Celsius. This roof can use at the tropical houses or the villas who has traditional architecture concept design.
