Foundation Detail at traditional house of Limasan and Joglo -UMPAK-
The Building Foundation as we know at traditional house in java
language we call “umpak”. This is the place for foundation Column at traditional house of limasan and Joglo house. With this “umpak”, the construction has stabilize structure, because the column structure only join upper the foundation / umpak with “purus”. There is different with concrete foundation, so if happened vibration, this building wiggle follows the earth gravitation. When earthquake comes, this building remains to be stable because can following the movement direction of earth gravitation, hence cannot makes a broken column structure.
